Ilgam al-Awam is a valuable work written by Hujjat al-Islam Imam al-Ghazali (may Allah have mercy on him) shortly before his death. In it, he criticizes the views of the Hashwiyya sect regarding anthropomorphism (tashbih and tajsim) and refutes their claims of representing the Salaf.
In this excellent book, he presents both scriptural and rational evidence to explain how the ambiguous (mutashabih) terms found in the Quran and noble hadiths should be understood. He also states that those who are not qualified should not occupy themselves with these matters.
